Computer Aid Guests visit Kisii University

vcThe Projector Coordinator and Project Officer from Computer Aid International paid a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Kisii University on 30th May 2017. This courtesy call was a follow up to the ongoing collaboration between Kisii University Kenya, and Computer Aid International, UK. Computer Aid International is an ICT for development charity registered in the UK aiming at reducing poverty through practical ICT solutions. In this collaboration, Kisii University has received over one thousand desktop computers, over one hundred laptops, smart boards, projectors, scanners and printers over the four year period.

During this visit, the Vice Chancellor reiterated the need for the two organizations to continue working together for the benefit of the students. He further revealed that the Computer student ratio has significantly improved from over 100 students per computer in 2014 to around 20 students per computer in 2017. The donation of high quality ICT solutions from Computer Aid International has greatly contributed to the modernization of teaching at Kisii University. In their discussions with the University, the Computer Aid International personnel revealed that they are exploring opportunities for a possible laptop project with staff and students at Kisii University.
