asdfTo develop and enhance the quality of academic programmes that meet the labour market, Kisii University organized a one day workshop on the Process of Design and Development of Academic Programmes.  The workshop was organized by the Academic Division, headed by Prof. Fredrick Wanyama through the Directorate of Academic Quality Assurance, headed by Dr. Kennedy Getange at Nyakoe Hotel on the 2nd of June 2017. The workshop was facilitated by officers from the Commission for University Education (CUE) led by Prof. Marcella Mwaka, Dr. Peace Angufana and Leah Kaburu.  

The workshop was attended by the University Management, Deans of faculties/schoos, Directors, Chair of Departments and Faculty Curriculum Coordinators. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. John S. Akama officially opened workshop. On his address, he challenged the participants to be proactive and embrace systems approach in curriculum development.  This came after a weeklong verification of Academic Resources for the programmes that the university had submitted to the CUE for Accreditation where the following nine (9) programmes were approved for Accreditation:

  1. Doctor of Philosophy in Pure Mathematics
  2. Doctor of Philosophy in Education Management (Administration, Planning and Economics)
  3. Doctor of Philosophy in Linguistics
  4. Master of Arts in Linguistics
  5. Master of Science in Pure Mathematics
  6. Master of Science in Agricultural Education
  7. Bachelor of Arts in Secretarial Management and Administration
  8. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension & Education
  9. Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistics
