Books for Africa donates over 22000 Books to Kisii University

booksKisii University has received over 22,000 University level books from Books for Africa, USA. Books for Africa, is a charity organization based in the USA that works towards ending the book famine in Africa through the supply of high quality books to Educational institutions. This donation will significantly boost the University library collection thus enhancing its capacity to serve the increasing students population.

The Research and Extension department together with Books for Africa have been planning for the delivery of the high-quality books to Kisii University for the past six months. It was a delight to see the journey finally come to fruition by the arrival of the 40 feet container with 570 boxes full of university books at the Ultra modern library grounds at Kisii University.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Akama, in his speech at the Ultra-modern library grounds during the opening of the container revealed that Books for Africa have greatly contributed to the enhancement of the University library over the past three years. To date, the University has received over 66,000 books from Books for Africa. This has gone a long way in ending the book deficit at the University. During this launch, the VC was flanked by Prof. Joseph Mailutha, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Planning and Finance, The Registrar, Research and Extension and other members of staff.
