Kisii University hosted the first inaugural international lake region health investment conference from 29th – 30th March 2017 at the institution’s sports ground.

The two days conference was meant to involve 13 counties in the lake region economic bloc (LREB) with the theme of strengthening health systems through partnership for socio-economic prosperity.

Leaders of the (LREB) had created the investment conference to bring together scholars, practitioners and leaders of private and government organizations, multinational corporations, and academic disciplines to share knowledge, experiences, research-based evi­dence about opportunities and challenges in develop­ment of world class health system.

Key to this conference was the discovery of partners who will contribute financial, material and human resources for world class health care facilities in the 13 counties of the LREB which  include; Kisii, Bungoma, Kakamega, Busia, Trans Nzoia, Vihiga, Migori, Homabay, Bomet, Nyamira, Siaya, Kisumu, Kericho.

To meet its objective, the conference had invited different Stakeholders including consumers, providers, suppliers, regulators and payers of health services among others.

According to the set concept, the participants engaged in the conference in the fol­lowing thematic areas such as leadership and governance, financing healthcare infrastructure and legal and ethical issues regarding managing high quality health services and organizations.

Kisii University school of health sciences had also forged ahead to prepare for the same in abide to impart more knowledge to its parties for the advancement of humanity in the discipline of Human Health and related sciences.

The school offers degree programmes in Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition, Community Health, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing and Clinical Medicine.
